The single-vehicle crash was reported at 11:02 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6 near Lanes Mill Road and Lanes Pond Road, Howell Township police said.
The man was driving an SUV east on Lanes Mill Road when he ran off the road on a curve and struck a concrete mailbox, police said. The crash caused the SUV to lose control, strike a brick landscaping wall and flip over, police said.
The driver, who was trapped inside, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passengers, two children and two adults were taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition, police said.
The driver’s name was withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
